The largest immigrant association in the country, Solim is made up of people who came to Portugal in search of a better life. Their work focuses on supporting those who face difficulties with legal status, employment, and other barriers to integration.

MAPS

"Our commitment is to give dignity and support to those who seek us in difficult times."

The Movimento de Apoio a Problematica da Sida (MAPS) was born in the 1980s through an informal volunteer movement to support the seropositive community. Today MAPS provides essential support across the Algarve region in areas including HIV/AIDS, drug addiction, homelessness, migration, ethnic minorities and other discriminated groups.

Albergues do Porto

"We can only respond to 20% of accommodation requests."

Founded 143 years ago, Albergues do Porto provides temporary shelter to people at risk of social exclusion. In 2023, their 97 beds across two centres supported 420 people, provided 35,000 overnight stays and distributed 200,000 meals - all through the support of 150 volunteers.

Aldeias Humanitar

"It is help that comes from heaven."

Aldeias Humanitar supports around 377 people in rural Portugal - the elderly, the ill, and those living alone. Founded in 2012, they provide integrated healthcare in people''s homes, entirely free of charge, fighting isolation and keeping people independent.
